How do you turn a commodity into a valuable resource? Add data. That’s exactly what Telia is helping FM Mattsson to do with a new generation of taps that deliver not only water – but insights.
Using the Telia IoT Platform; each connected tap can be centrally monitored and controlled. For starters, this reveals water-efficiency and energy consumption. It also unlocks insights into user behaviours that enable designs to be fine-tuned. These insights go beyond the tap. Under-used taps in public restrooms could point to areas where people don’t feel safe or where lighting is inadequate.
Controlling taps remotely promises a lot of value. For example, in hospitals where taps must be periodically flushed to avoid contamination. Smart taps can flush themselves after a certain number of uses. Or the case of a leak, turning off the water can save a lot of damage
